Tour of Britain 2025 Route + results stage 5: Pontypool - The Tumble

Tour of Britain 2025Saturday 6 September – Stage 5 of the Tour of Britain takes the riders through Wales in two loops. It’s the Queen Stage, finishing at The Tumble, a 5-kilometre climb averaging 8%.

The riders face just under 2,250 metres of climbing, which may not sound excessive, but that changes once you realise the route does not exceed 139.4 kilometres.

Early in the first loop, the riders tackle a 3.6-kilometre climb at 4.5%, before continuing over ascents of 4.1 kilometres at 3.7% and 2 kilometres at 5% on the way to the finishing circuit. That circuit begins with a first taste of the final climb: The Tumble, 5 kilometres at 8%.

At the summit, just under 50 kilometres remain. A long, gradual downhill section leads onto largely flat terrain towards the second and final ascent of The Tumble.

The Tumble last featured in the Tour of Britain in 2014. On that day, Edoardo Zardini stayed ahead of Michal Kwiatkowski and Nicolas Roche.
