Tour of Britain 2025: The Route
fotobureau Cor VosThe 2025 Tour of Britain started on Tuesday, 2 September, in Suffolk and finished the following Sunday in Wales. Three relatively flat stages preceded three lumpy tests, two of which with uphill finishes. It was Geraint Thomas’ final race as a pro rider.

Stage 1 is a golden opportunity for the sprinters. No serious climbs and barely 1,000 metres of elevation. Stage 2 offers much the same: hardly any hills and another modest tally of around 1,000 vertical metres.
Stage 3 of the Tour of Britain is expected to be the last chance for the pure sprinters. The run-in to the flamme rouge drags slightly uphill, but overall the parcours is as flat as the first two days.
Stage 4 should suit the punchers. After a largely flat approach, the finale takes place on a circuit in Burton Dassett Hills Country Park. The riders tackle a 700-metre climb at 9% three times, with the finish line waiting at the summit on the final ascent.
The 5th stage loops through Wales in two circuits, featuring longer climbs this time around. The standout is The Tumble, a 5-kilometre ascent at 8% that also doubles as the summit finish.
The final stage is a hilly race into the Welsh capital, Cardiff. At 122.6 kilometres it is short test, but it still packs in nearly 1,700 vertical metres. The last time the Tour of Britain finished in Cardiff, back in 2017, it was Edvald Boasson Hagen who struck gold.
