Race report

Bauke Mollema, Louis Vervaeke, Andrew August, Maxime Lecomble, Roland Thalmann and Alexy Faure Prost break away early on. Michael Leonard bridges across to them, while Mollema is soon dropped on the first ascent of the Jaunpass. Primoz Roglic, Marco Brenner and Valentin Paret-Peintre make the opposite move and join the break.

August and Faure Prost are dropped before the summit as well, while Florian Samuel Kajamini joins the attackers on the second ascent of the Jaunpass. They crest the climb 2 minutes and 30 seconds ahead of the peloton.

Brenner and Kajamini are dropped in the downhill before Lecomble and Roland Thalmann loses contact on the Saanenmöser. The remaining attackers, Primoz Roglic, Louis Vervaeke, Valentin Paret-Peintre and Michael Leonard, still have 1 minute and a half in hand at the top of the climb.

On the final ascent of the Jaun Pass, Roglic and Paret-Peintre drop the others. In the last 3 kilometres of the climb, they are caught by Pogacar, Martinez and Lipowitz. Once the race leader has reeled in the pair, he drops the others as well and goes on alone.

Lipowitz has other ideas and regains contact. For a moment, that is, as Pogacar shakes off the German in the final 1.2 kilometres of the climb and solos to victory.

Obviously, the Slovenian extends his GC lead, while Lipowitz remains second.
