Tour de Romandie 2026 Route stage 5: Lucens - Leysin

Tour de Romandie 2026 Sunday 3 May – The Tour de Romandie concludes with the toughest stage of six days of racing. At the end of a hilly race, not unlike Liège–Bastogne–Liège, the riders tackle a 14.3-kilometre climb at 5.9% to the finish. The route features 3,524 metres of climbing over 178.2 kilometres.

The race begins with two different circuits around Lucens. On the first, the riders start climbing straight from the gun, tackling the ascent to Villars-le-Comte: 5.5 kilometres at 3.1%. On the second, they ride a kilometres-long false flat towards Thierrens. Back in the start town, they set off on their journey south.

The route features a whole string of climbs, many of them uncategorised, but all adding to the attrition. In succession, the riders face ascents of 4.4 kilometres at 4.9%, 4.2 kilometres at 4.1%, 5.8 kilometres at 3.9%, and 4 kilometres at 4.4%. After the latter, they reach Vuillens, with 80 kilometres still to go.

The road is rarely flat afterwards, though the terrain is more rolling than hilly. That changes in the downhill towards Montreux and 15 kilometres on the flat later the final climb looms. The ascent to Leysin is 14.3 kilometres long at an average gradient of 5.9%, with the steepest ramps touching 12%.

Two years ago the Tour de Romandie last finished in Leysin. Richard Carapaz won that day by dropping his fellow escapees Florian Lipowitz and Carlos Rodríguez in the finale. Seven years earlier, Simon Yates came out on top in Leysin.

The first three riders across the line receive 10, 6 and 4 bonus seconds.

The final stage of the Tour de Romandie starts at 11:45 and is expected to finish around 16:00.
