It’s a maze of loops that make up the 3rd stage. None of them are identical, but the routes are similar in character. Time and again the riders move from one climb straight to the next, with only the section around the finish passage in Orbe offering flat roads.

After climbs of 2.1 kilometres at 5.9%, 4.8 kilometres at 3.3%, 1.5 kilometres at 6.4%, 6.8 kilometres at 3% and 1.5 kilometres at 5.6%, the bell for the final lap rings with 64.6 kilometres to go. Shortly afterwards, the riders climb to Oulens-sur-Echallens, which is a 4.2-kilometre effort at 3.3%

Right after the descent, the route continues on a rising false flat towards the foot of the Col de Mollendruz, before the climb itself serves up 9 kilometres at an average gradient of 6.1%. From the summit, a 21.4-kilometre plunge leads back to the valley, and the final 11 kilometres are flat.

The first three riders across the line gain 10, 6 and 4 bonus seconds.
