The race kicks off with a 26-kilometre loop north of Aalter. From there, the riders head via Oudenaarde to the finishing circuit around Geraardsbergen. Along the way, they tackle the Rotelenberg (800 metres at 4.6%), Kortekeer (1 kilometre at 6.4%), Taaienberg (600 metres at 8.4%), Berg Ten Houte (1.1 kilometres at 6.2%), Brique-Potterée (1.9 kilometres at 4.3%), and Parikeberg (800 metres at 4.4%). Before reaching the first passage of the finish line, the Denderoordberg throws in 700 metres at 7.5%.
The finish line is situated on the cobbles of the Vesten, halfway up the local ‘Muur’. At the first passage, 66.6 kilometres remain, spread across two laps.
After the first crossing of the line, the riders continue up to the chapel at the summit of the Muur. The full climb is 1.2 kilometres at 7.8%, entirely cobbled, with the steepest stretch ramping up to 13.5%. Then comes the Bosberg (1.4 kilometres at 5%, final 400 metres cobbled), before the route continues to the Onkerzeleberg (2.3 kilometres at 3.2%) before looping back to the Denderoordberg. Another 6.2 kilometres later, the bell for the final laps sounds.
As mentioned, the finish is on the Vesten, which means 500 metres of cobbled climbing at 6%.

It has produced wins for Manuel Quinziato (2015), Edvald Boasson Hagen (2016), Jasper Stuyven (2017), Michael Matthews (2018), Oliver Naesen (2019), Mathieu van der Poel (2020), Matej Mohoric (2021), Mike Teunissen (2023), and Arnaud De Lie (2024).
The Green Kilometre – offering three intermediate sprints within 1,000 metres, each with 3, 2 and 1 bonus seconds up for grabs – begins 28.8 kilometres from the finish (on the Bosberg). Time bonuses are also awarded at the line: 10, 6 and 4 seconds for the first three riders.
