Giro Women 2026 Route stage 2: Roncade - Caorle

Giro Women 2026 Sunday 31 May – On the day the men’s Giro finishes, the women ride their 2nd stage from Roncade to Caorle. There are only 500 metres of elevation gain in the 156-kilometre route, so a bunch sprint is next to certain.

Three years ago, the men’s Giro also finished in Caorle, where it produced a narrow sprint victory for Alberto Dainese. He just managed to edge out Jonathan Milan and Michael Matthews on the line.

With Lorena Wiebes on the start list, the question is whether another close finish in Caorle is on the cards. She has already taken eight wins this season, often in dominant fashion. In Italy she faces competition from the likes of Charlotte Kool and Elisa Balsamo.

Apart from a climb shortly before the halfway point, the route is as flat as a skating rink. That climb, however, is a proper wall: the Muro di Ca’ del Poggio rises for 1.1 kilometres at 12.3%. After the descent, the route still rolls slightly, but in the final 80 kilometres there is absolutely nothing to prevent a bunch sprint.

There are time bonuses of 6, 4 and 2 seconds up for grabs at the intermediate sprint, while the first three riders across the line receive 10, 6 and 4 seconds.
