Race report
The breakaway features Wout van Aert, Taco van der Hoorn, Kasper Asgreen, Fabio Van den Bossche, Dries De Bondt, Quinten Hermans, Alex Edmondson, Stan Dewulf, Enzo Paleni, Josef Cerny and Luke Lamperti, which prompts the peloton to keep chasing. The catch is made after 20 kilometres of full-on chasing.

Asgreen pushes on, joined by Louis Meintjes, Mirco Maestri, Martin Marcellusi, and Clément Davy. The five open up a 2-minute gap on the peloton. Meintjes then decides he’s done his part and drops back.

On the first climb of the day, Davy is dropped, while Giulio Ciccone has to let the peloton go after crashing in the final 22 kilometres. Other GC contenders also suffer setbacks, but none as severe as the Italian.

Inside the last 10 kilometres, the three attackers are still 30 seconds ahead. In the first chase group, Olav Kooij and Kaden Groves are the only sprinters left, while four GC riders are still on board: Isaac del Toro, Derek Gee, Richard Carapaz and Simon Yates.

After the final climb, Asgreen drops his breakaway companions and solos to victory. Kaden Groves wins the sprint for second place ahead of Olav Kooij. The pink jersey finishes in the same group, strengthening his lead in the general classification, while Simon Yates moves up to second. Juan Ayuso finishes in a group over a minute down and drops to third place.
