Giro 2023 Favourites stage 11: For fast men#3

Mads Pedersen - Giro 2023 Favourites stage 11: For fast men#3foto: Cor VosThe elevation gain on the roads from Camaiore to Tortona is 2,100 metres. This is spread out over a route of 219 kilometres, so that should be doable for the fast men. Moreover, the finale is flat. (Slideshow route/profile)

So the 11th stage should be a pink carpet ride for the sprinters. At 219 kilometres, it’s the longest race of the entire Giro. Certainly not the hardest, as some of the mountain stages are almost as long.

The riders tackle three KOM climbs between Camaiore and Tortona. Not the hardest climbs in the world and situated far from the finish line, so that should not twhart the sprinters’ teams. Keep the breakaway within range, reel them in in time, and sprint for glory, that’s the motto.

And – also – make sure to not forget the 90 degrees righthander inside the 500 metres. Positioning is of the essence.

Your selection of sprint stages favourites should be revised. Dekker isn’t racing Giro anymore. And most of all… where the hell is points jersey owner Jonathan Milan in these lists???
