Pure horror - that's an apt way to describe stage 19. The riders race to an altitude of 1,100 metres in a false flat run-up of 70 kilometres. And that's where the action is set to really take off.
A series of colossus are neatly lined up. The torture begins on an unclassified climb (3.9 kilometres at 6.7%) to continue without any time for a breather onto the Passo Campolongo (3.9 kilometres at 7%), Passo Valparola (14.1 kilometres at 5,6%), Passo Giau (9.9 kilometres at 9.3%) and Passo Tre Croci (7.9 kilometres at 7.2%).
There are 13.5 kilometres left to race at the Tre Croci. A descent is not really in order and then the road climbs 1.7 kilometres at 6.1% to continue with 1.4 kilometres at 10.6%. Via a short downhill the route returns to climbing with 1 kilometre at 3.9%, only to scale up to a wildly intimidating outro. The lasts 4 kilometres of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo go up at 11.7% and the last 3 even ramp up to 12.7% - on average!

Too early to say that Vine has no legs and shouldn't have 3 stars. But Vlasov is the one you definitely forgot to replace in this list of stage favourites
