Race report
Mathieu van der Poel attacks virtually from the gun, while Fabien Doubey, Victor Guernalec and Anders Foldager bridge across to him, before Toms Skujiņs, Søren Wærenskjold and Fabian Weiss make it eight at the front. And then they are caught.

The break of the day forms with 100 kilometres to go, as Michael Leonard attacks. He is joined by Bruno Armirail, Andreas Leknessund, Dion Smith and Anthony Turgis. Later, Alex Baudin, Romain Bardet and Mathieu van der Poel also bridge across. The seven open up a maximum lead of two minutes.

At the Côte de Mont-Saxonnex, only Leonard and Baudin remain out front. The group of favourites crest the summit 1 minute later.

Right from the start of the Côte de Domancy, Baudin drops Leonard. Tadej Pogacar does something similar in the group of favourites. Jonas Vingegaard manages to follow for a while, but then the Slovenian is alone. With 6.7 kilometres remaining, he catches Baudin. The Frenchman clings to his wheel for a few hundred metres, before the world champion leaves him behind.

Pogacar hits the jackpot! He finishes 1 minute and 1 second ahead of Vingegaard, with Florian Lipowitz arriving 22 seconds later. The three now lead the general classification. Remco Evenepoel comes in fifth and slips from first to fourth overall.
