Critérium du Dauphiné 2025 Route stage 5: Saint-Priest - Mâcon
The roads are flat to gently rolling up to kilometre 90. The riders then face four climbs over the following 66 kilometres: Côte de Saint-Amour (1.2 kilometres at 5.6%), Col de Fontmartin (6.7 kilometres at 4.4%), Col de Boubon (4.7 kilometres at 5.2%), and Côte des Quatre Vents (5.3 kilometres at 4.6%). From the final hill, it’s a 5-kilometre descent onto a flat run-in to the line of 20 kilometres.
We have to go back to 2017 for the last time that a pro-peloton race finished in Mâcon. On that occasion, Phil Bauhaus won the sprint ahead of Arnaud Démare and Bryan Coquard.
Saint-Priest, this year’s stage start, was meant to host a finish last year — but things didn’t go to plan. Stage 5 of the Dauphiné was neutralised 20 kilometres from the line after a massive crash took down half the peloton. Many riders had to be taken to hospital and there weren’t enough ambulances left to safely continue the race.
The first three riders to cross the finish line receive time bonuses of 10, 6, and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprint offers 3, 2, and 1 second respectively.
