Critérium du Dauphiné 2025 Route stage 7: Grand-Aigueblanche - Valmeinier 1800
The hardship begins right from the start, as the riders tackle the Col de la Madeleine – a brute of a climb, stretching 24.6 kilometres at an average gradient of 6.2%. That figure is skewed by a flat section after 8 kilometres, while closer to the summit, a couple of kilometres ramp up well into double digits.
The route is straightforward: once the riders reach the valley, the road kicks up again for another colossus. The Col de la Croix de Fer offers more of the same – 22.4 kilometres at an average gradient of 6.9%. The main difference is that the double-digit ramps are found further from the summit this time.
After descending into the Arc valley, the riders stay on the valley floor for 15 kilometres before tackling the final climb to Valmeinier 1800 – a steady ascent of 16.5 kilometres at an average gradient of 6.7%.
The first three riders to cross the finish line receive time bonuses of 10, 6, and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprint offers 3, 2, and 1 second respectively.
