Race report
Breakaway riders Marjolein van 't Geloof, Alison Jackson, Chantal Pegolo, Sara Luccon and Gaia Segato open up a lead of over 8 minutes.

The gap hovers around the 5-minute mark when maglia rosa Anna van der Breggen is among the riders brought down in a major crash in the peloton. Well before the only climb of the day, she makes it back to the peloton.

Célia Gery, Sylvia Persico and Lucinda Brand catch up with the last remaining attackers - Pegolo, Jackson and Segato - on the descent. Elisa Longo Borghini also joins them with 20 kilometres to go.

The seven ride 37 seconds clear, largely thanks to the work of Persico. When she can no longer contribute, Longo Borghini takes over at the front herself, but the peloton still closes in rapidly during the final kilometres.

The attackers retain just enough of an advantage to contest the stage among themselves. Brand launches her sprint early, but is overhauled by Gery, who is mich fastere.

In the end, Longo Borghini gains only 5 seconds on her rivals in the GC, while Anna van der Breggen retains the overall lead ahead of Demi Vollering and Antonia Niedermaier.
