Tour Down Under 2014 Results stage 5 and GC

Richie Porte won the 5th and penultimate stage of the Tour Down Under of 2014 quite impressively. This stage was the hardest in this year's edition. Simon Gerrans came in 3rd and is the new GC leader.

The stage had a tough final, with two climbs of Willunga Hill. Porte managed to escape on the second ascent, just 2 kilometers before the finish line. GC leader Evans desperately tried to catch up with him, but failed in doing so. Not only did he lose the stage, he also lost 4 seconds to Gerrans, who is now the new GC leader.

However, Evans is only 1 second behind and the gap to Diego Ulissi is 5 seconds. This year’s Tour Down Under is not decided yet!
