Tour Down Under 2014 Results stage 1 and GC
Stage 1 in the 2014 Tour Down Under, leading from Nuriootpa to Angaston, was won by Simon Gerrans. After 135 kilometers in the saddle he was the best in the sprint of the first peloton, beating André Greipel. (Slideshow route/profile)
Menglers Hill at 12 kilometers from the finish line reduced the first peloton to a group of 50 riders. Australian Champion Simon Gerrans was the fastest in the sprint. The victory makes him the first GC leader in the 2014 Tour Down Under.
