Race report
Gerben Kuypers, Roberto Carlos González, and Félix Stehli initiate the breakaway shortly after the start, while Luca Jenni and Antoine Debons rejoin them a little later to make it five at the front. They open up a lead of over 4 minutes before González gets dropped around the halfway marker.
The gap has fallen below 1 minute as Jenni heads alone on the Regensberg, but he is caught just before the top.
Søren Kragh Andersen attacks on the descent, and Mauro Schmid goes with him. When they are caught in the valley, Alberto Bettiol accelerates. The pack brings the Italian back just before the flamme rouge.
n the ensuing sprint, Arnaud De Lie follows Bryan Coquard’s wheel, but he loses speed due to a mechanical issue. The Frenchman is gone and wins the stage with Michael Matthews in second place. De Lie still manages to come home third.
Yves Lampaert retains the lead in the general classification.
