The first 70 kilometres are flat, except for a 4.3 kilometres climb at 6.6% in Obstalden. After this interruption, the route continues as before, and then a 5.9 kilometres climb at 6.1% in Bildhaus am Ricken precedes the lumpier second part of the race.
This section lasts all the way to the finish, with the Regensberg bound to play a crucial role in the finale. The 2.2 kilometres climb at 7.7% is the last uphill of the day, with the summit 9.8 kilometres from the finish.
The riders fly downhill to a flat 5 kilometres run-in to the line.
Starting at kilometre 150.8, the Golden Kilometre offers two opportunities to gain time bonuses of 3, 2, and 1 seconds. The first three riders at the finish line take 10, 6, and 4 seconds.
