Tour de France Femmes 2026: Haugset seals double win with monster solo
fotobureau Cor VosWith roughly 85 kilometres to go, Sigfrid Haugset attacks from the breakaway. It looks like a hopeless mission, but it isn't. Lotte Kopecky sets off in pursuit and closes to within 10 seconds, but over the final 10 kilometres the gap opens up again. The Norwegian rides solo to a double triumph: stage victory and yellow jersey.

Race report
The peloton is gradually whittled down on the Col de la Fauceille, with yellow jersey Lorena Wiebes among the riders dropped. At the summit, she finds herself 1 minute and 20 seconds behind the GC contenders. Puck Pieterse takes the mountain sprint and becomes the virtual Queen of the Mountains, which she confirms by winning the sprint atop the Côte de Lajoux.
A lead group featuring Femke de Vries, Célia Gery, Rosa Kloser, Lotte Kopecky, Nienke Vinke, Liane Lippert, Loes Adegeest, Lucinda Brand, Justine Ghekiere, Sigfrid Haugset and Yara Kastelijn forms on the plateau after the Côte de Lajoux. The peloton keeps the break within striking distance, while the deficit of the group featuring Wiebes stretches beyond 4 minutes.
TOn the Col de la Savine, the breakaway is swept up and Haugset pushes on alone. The Norwegian champion crests the summit 40 seconds ahead of the chasers, where Pieterse further tightens her grip on the polka-dot jersey. By then, it is clear that Wiebes is set to lose the yellow jersey, as she comes over the Savine more than 8 minutes later.
While Kopecky sets off in pursuit, the deficit of the other chasers stretches beyond 5 minutes. The situation remains stable for tens of kilometres, but over the last 40 kilometres the Belgian cuts the gap to less than 1 minute. Meanwhile, the peloton moves to within 4 minutes.
On the Côte de Chaux-Champagny, Kopecky cuts the gap to half a minute, while the GC favourites, with the exception of Anna van der Breggen and Paula Blasi, attack from the chasing group. They reach the summit 2 minutes behind Kopecky.
As several chasing groups merge behind the two leaders, Kopecky starts the final 10 kilometres with a 10-second deficit to Haugset.
The Norwegian cracks Kopecky in the final kilometres and gradually extends her lead once more. Haugset caps off her monster solo with both the stage win and the yellow jersey.
