Race report
Geoffrey Bouchard is the first rider to attacks and Nil Gimeno goes with him. When Luca Cretti bridges across as well, the three build a lead of a few minutes, but they are reeled back in well before the finish.
As a result, the Golden Kilometre is wide open. Romain Grégoire takes advantage, cleverly sprinting to collect 5 bonus seconds, while Tom Pidcock takes 2.
In the final 6 kilometres, Tim Wellens attacks, while Christophe Laporte and Marcin Budziński go with him. For a moment thing looks promising, but with 2.5 kilometres to go the peloton brings the three back.
The final word goes to the fast men. Tom Crabbe seizes his opportunity with both hands, launching from Axel Zingle’s wheel and powering to victory with a powerful effort.
Iván Romeo retains the lead in the general classification.
