Race report
Victor Papon is the first attacker, but he doesn’t make the break. Guillermo Thomas Silva, Diego Uriarte, and Lorenzo Peschi have more success, opening up a 4-minute lead over the peloton.
The attackers are caught before the Golden Kilometre, where Tom Pidcock then collects 6 seconds.
By that time, the peloton has been significantly reduced. Most sprinters have been dropped, but one who remains is Alexander Kristoff. In the final metres, he comes alongside Ben Turner, who launched his sprint early. The Brit finishes second, with Maxim Van Gils in third.
