The riders clip into their pedals in Sirmione and travel along the shores of Lake Garda for several kilometers before turning left and gradually ascending towards Lonato del Garda. The route then winds its way south. Shortly after the intermediate sprint in Medole, the rider enter the finishing circuit in Guidizzolo.
The stage concludes with two local laps of 22.1 kilometres, each featuring a climb of 1.2 kilometers at 5%. The summit is located 10 kilometres from the finish line in Volta Montovana.
Last year’s Giro for women saw two bunch sprints; Lorena Wiebes won the first, Chiara Consonni the second.
The first three riders on the line earn time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds.
