Vuelta Femenina 2023 Route stage 3: Elche de la Sierra - La Roda

Vuelta Femenina 2023Wednesday 3 May - At 157.8 kilometres, the 3rd stage of La Vuelta Femenina travels from Elche de la Sierra to La Roda. The flat route is situated on the plains between Madrid and Murcia in inland Spain.

The route may be flat, but this not necesarry means that the riders are racing at sea level. Far from it. The 3rd stage of the women’s Vuelta takes place at an altitude of around 700 metres. To a great extent, inland Spain is a vast plateau – the Meseta Central.

The route goes either false flat up or false flat down in the first 65 kilometres. The riders reach the highest point of the day near the village Pozohondo – at almost 900 metres. Very gradually the route descends to Albacete, after which the rest of the route is as flat as a curling rink.

The 3rd stage is the flattest of the entire Vuelta Femenina.

The intermediate sprint comes with time bonuses of 6, 4 and 2 seconds, while the first three riders on the line gain 10, 6 and 4 seconds.
