After the start in Cuenca – which is famous for its Casas Colgadas, houses hanging over a deep gorge – the first 15 kilometres go ever so slightly uphill that’s it’s arguably flat. A rolling phase then makes way for a another flat section, which ends halfway through the race with a climb to the village Alcocer. This is where the stage enters a more undulating part.
With roughly 35 kilometres remaining La Vuelta Femenina starts descending to the base of the Alto de Hurche. As mentioned, the riders crest the 4 kilometres climb at 4.8% with 12 kilometres to go. The first half is flat, after which stage 4 closes with a descend to the line..
Finishing venue Guadelajara is situated roughly 50 kilometres to the northeast of Madrid. It’s a town with a population of 85,000 people.
The intermediate sprint comes with time bonuses of 6, 4 and 2 seconds, while the first three riders on the line gain 10, 6 and 4 seconds.
