Vuelta 2024 Favourites stage 5: For fast men #3

Wout van Aert Vuelta - Vuelta 2024 Favourites stage 5: For fast men #3fotobureau Cor VosThe 5th stage of the Vuelta features almost 1,700 meters of climbing in the first 125 kilometers. After that, there is a 20 kilometres downhill before the course flattens to skate level in the last 30 kilometres. Which is great for the sprinters. (Slideshow route/profile)

The roads are never flat in the first 125 kilometres, but the undulations are not hard enough to be KOM worthy. So, effectually the 5th stage doesn't take in any official climbs. The steepest sections are a 2.8 kilometres stretch at 5.1% (after 28 kilometres) and a 1.6 kilometre stretch at 7.1% (after 74 kilometres).

Once the riders climb out of the Rivera de Huelva valley on a 3.3 kilometres incline at 5.8%, the climbing is done. They descend for 20 kilometres to the plains to the north of Seville, and then it’s all about the sprint that will take place 30 kilometres later on the wide Paseo de Colón in Seville.
