Vuelta 2024 Favourites stage 4: Attackers in first mountain stage
fotobureau Cor VosIn the 4th stage of La Vuelta, the riders traverse three climbs to arrive at the foot of Pico Villuercas. Which is a 14.6 kilometres climb at 6.2% with several kilometres at double-digit gradients.

As it's still early in the Vuelta, the most likely scenario is that the breakaway will battle it our for the stage honours. Chances are that there is also a red jersey up for grabs on the Pico Villuercas.
The riders tackle the Puerto de Cabezabellosa (9.2 kilometres at 5.4%) and Pico de Piornal (13.9 kilometres at 5.6%) early in the race. The Puerto de Miravete throws in 8 kilometres at 4.5% with kilometres remaining before the Pico Villuercas rounds out the route with 14.6 kilometres of climbing at 6.2%. The finish climb is pepped up with 2.9 kilometres at 13.4% within the last 6 kilometres.
