Race report
Élie Gesbert is the first attacker, but Romain Bardet reaches the Portalet in first position. He opens up a gap and when he is brought back, Eduardo Sepulvada gives it a go. Edward Theuns, Jonathan Castroviejo, Edward Planckaert, Stefan Bissegger and Imanol Erviti track him down and they tackle the Aubisque with a small lead.

The peloton is bunched again in the climb. While Andreas Kron, Kenny Elissonde, Cristián Rodríguez and Michael Storer ride away, Jumbo-Visma set the pace in the main group. It’s such a hard pace that João Almeida and Remco Evenepoel drop off the back.

Kron, Elissonde, Rodríguez and Storer reach the summit 30 seconds ahead of the peloton and 2 minutes ahead of the group Evenepoel.

The peloton catch the four in the descent to the foot of the Spandelles before Caruso, Landa, Kuss and Vingegaard distance the field. The four are brought back early in the climb.

Again, Jumbo-Visma starts setting the pace. Lenny Martinez is the first top 10 rider to lose contact, while Store reaches the summit in first position to move into the GC lead.

The lead group is down to Vingegaard, Kuss, Roglic, Mas, Uijtdebroeks and Ayuso with 8 kilometres to go on the Tourmalet. The Tour de France winner accelerates to open up a lead of over 1 minute.

Red jersey Kuss strikes in the background just before the flame rouge. He finishes in second, half a minute behind Vingegaard, to exetend his lead on GC. Roglic tops off the Jumbo-Visma party and comes home in third.

The Jumbo bees now occupy the first three spots on GC.
