Tour of Valencia 2019

Tour of Valencia 2019Edition 70 of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana – or, Tour of Valencia – is played out from Wednesday, 6 February, to Sunday, 10 February 2019. The five-day stage race opens with an ITT, while the Queen Stage is planned for the penultimate day of action. The race is back on the calendar since 2016, which resulted in victories for Wout Poels, Nairo Quintana and Alejandro Valverde. (Slideshow route/profile)

This year’s Queen Stage climbs to the Ermita Santa Lucia above Alcossebre. The final haul up to the sanctuary is 3.4 kilometres at 9.7%, but the most arduous part definitely is the first half with an average gradient of 14.7%. In the 2017 Vuelta a España Alexey Lutsenko brought the early break home on these these slopes.
