Tour of Britain 2021 Route stage 7: Hawick - Edinburgh

Tour of Britain 2021 stage 3 Saturday 11 September - The penultimate stage of the Tour of Britain is the first of two full stages in Scotland. At 195.7 kilometres, the riders traverse a lumpy route with a downhill finish in Edinburgh's Holyrood Park.

The route rises from the gun until the route levels out after 10 kilometres near Alemoor reservoir. On the flat the riders continue to the Ettrick Valley before climbing up to Berrybush, where KOM points are on offer, and racing on to Mountbenger in the Yarrow Valley.

Continuing north, the riders head to Innerleithen before tackling the gentle hills on Granites Road. After cutting east and racing down the A7 to Stow more KOM points are available as the race climbs out of the village. The route then descends into Lauder and following some 50 kilometres on undulating terrain the last KOM points are up for grabs at Wanside Rig, with 40 kilometres remaining.

The route drops down into East Lothian before continuing on rolling roads into Edinburgh city centre. The last 2 kilometres go downhill to Queen’s Drive for a finish in the shadow of Arthur’s Seat.
