Race report
Taco van der Hoorn and Ide Schelling are up for it and go full gas right from the start. Giosue Epis joins them, followed later by Mauro Schmid and Junior Lecerf.
Schmid is 31 seconds behind overall leader Javier Romo in the general classification. After picking up some bonus seconds along the way, he attacks solo on the final climb, Nettle Hill.
With 15 kilometres to go, the peloton reels him back in. By then, the pure sprinters are already out of contention.
In Victor Harbour, Bryan Coquard wins the sprint, beating Phil Bauhaus and Jhonatan Narváez to the line. Laurence Pithie comes home in fourth, but he’s relegated for dangerous riding.
Romo keeps hold of the orange leader’s jersey, though Narváez closes the gap by 4 seconds.
