Race report
There are numerous attacks in the early phase of the race and eventually Rémi Cavagna, Darren Rafferty and Alexandre Balmer initiate the breakaway, with Marco Brenner joining them. The four open up a 2 minutes lead.
Cavagna heads out alone when the gap has fallen to 1.30 minutes. Rafferty and Brenner rejoin him with 31 kilometres to go, before the peloton also catches up inside the last 29 kilometres.
Enzo Paleni strikes inside the last 20 kilometres before Andrea Vendrame goes on the counter-attack. Also to no avail, as he is caught with 14 kilometres left to race.
Then Michael Valgren gives it a go, with Michael Hepburn on his wheel. Those two are caught in the final 8 kilometres.
Dorian Godon opens the sprint early and he powers to his second stage triumph of the week, while Carlos Rodriguez finishes safely in the bunch to seal the overall victory.
