Tour de France 2025 Route stage 21: Mantes-la-Ville - Paris
Sunday, 27 July - The final stage of the Tour sets off from Mantes-la-Ville and finishes 132.3 kilometres later on the Champs-Élysées in Paris. The finale is shaped by the Côte de la Butte Montmartre, a cobbled climb of 1.1 kilometres at 5.9%, with the summit coming 6.1 kilometres from the line.
Due to the Paris Olympics, the Tour de France had to finish in Nice last year. In the main city on the French Riviera Tadej Pogacar capped off a phenomenal three weeks with his sixth stage win and the overall victory.
While last year’s Tour ended with a time trial, this time Paris is once again the traditional final destination – but not after the usual sprint stage. The cobbled climb up to the Sacré-Cœur, which added fireworks to last year’s Olympic road race, has been included in the route. It’s a 1.1 kilometre ascent at 5.9% and features three times, with the final summit coming 6.1 kilometres from the finish line.
The run-in to Paris follows a familiar pattern. After two modest climbs – Côte de Bazemont (1.7 kilometres at 7%) and Côte du Pavé des Gardes (700 metres at 9.7%) – the riders reach the French capital after around 50 kilometres. There, they take on three laps of 6.8 kilometres on the Champs-Élysées.
Up to that point, everything mirrors the traditional final stage of the Tour. But instead of staying on the Champs-Élysées, the race heads towards the Côte de la Butte Montmartre. That lap, including the cobbled climb, measures 16.7 kilometres and is also tackled three times.
The last three Tours that finished in Paris ended with a Flemish victory. Jordi Meeus won in 2023, following in the footsteps of Jasper Philipsen and Wout van Aert. The years prior saw success from Sam Bennett (2020), Caleb Ewan (2019), Alexander Kristoff (2018), Dylan Groenewegen (2017), André Greipel (2016, 2015), Marcel Kittel (2014, 2013), and Mark Cavendish (2012, 2011, 2010, 2009).
The first three riders across the line gain 10, 6 and 4 bonus seconds.
