Race report
Simon Pellaud is a regular in the breakaways on this year’s Tour Colombia. This time he is accompanied by Duarte, Chalapud, Quiroz, Suárez, Pedraza, Maestri and Bayron Guamá. The eight race to a lead of 5 minutes.
The lead group is brought back with 14 kilometres remaining.
Teammates Julian Alaphilippe and Bob Jungels strike in the last kilometre, but they are brought back and the race boils down to a sprint finish. Álvaro Hodeg and Sebastián Molano go for it shoulder to shoulder before the winner of stage 2 and 3 wins the race with an ultimate jump.
Sergio Higuita keeps the race lead ahead of his EF teammates Daniel Martínez and Jonathan Caicedo. Egan Bernal sits in fourth, 50 seconds down on the leader.
