O Gran Camiño 2025 Route + results stage 5: Betanzos – Santiago de Compostela
Sunday, 2 March - On the final day of O Gran Camiño, the riders head to Santiago de Compostela, the endpoint of the famous pilgrimage, on a route that goes up and down throughout the day. The course is 160 kilometres long with 2,830 metres of elevation gain.
After a rolling start, the riders tackle a 4.2-kilometre climb with an average gradient of 6.4%, reaching the top after 14 kilometres. By this point, the peloton is travelling at 500 metres above sea level, and it stays at that altitude for about 40 kilometres. The route is rolling gently throughout that section.
The riders then descend towards Santiago de Compostela for the first pass through the finish town.
Two laps of roughly 55 kilometres close out O Gran Camiño. The challenge in each of these laps comes in the final 25 kilometres. First up is the Alto de Lampai, a 5.2-kilometre climb with an average gradient of 5.4%. After that, it’s a descent to San Martiño, followed by a rolling section leading to the intermediate sprint in O Milladoiro. Three gravel sections spice up this rolling stretch.
After the second passage through O Milladoiro, there are 4.5 kilometres to go. The road begins with a slight descent, before the final 2 kilometres rise gradually towards the finish line.
The first three riders to finish bag 10, 6, and 4 bonus seconds, while there are 3, 2, and 1 second bonuses up for grabs at the intermediate sprints.
