Giro 2026 Route stage 4: Catanzaro - Cosenza
Last updated 11 May 2026: weather forecast updated
Suited for: sprinters
Interesting: potential cat-and-mouse game in the finale
In 2016 the Giro last visited Catanzaro, again straight after a transfer – that time from the Netherlands. The route then headed to Praia a Mare, where Diego Ulissi took the spoils.
The 4th stage follows virtually the same roads as it did ten editions ago. Most of the route hugs the Tyrrhenian Sea, although this time the riders turn right inland quite a bit earlier. Almost immediately they are faced with the day’s only climb: 14.4 kilometres at 5.9%.
Once over the top at 921 metres above sea level, 43 kilometres remain. Roughly half of that distance goes downhill, while the other half tilts ever so slightly upwards towards the finish in Cosenza.

Time bonuses of 6, 4 and 2 seconds are up for grabs at the intermediate sprint at kilometre 126.4; at the finish line, 10, 6 and 4 await the first three riders.
The 4th stage of the Giro d’Italia starts at 13:40 and the race is expected to finish around 17:15 - both are local times (CEST). For details, see the timings in the slideshow below this article.
Weather conditions:
