Last updated 27 May 2026: link to stage results added
After the start in Cassano d’Adda - birthplace of the 1966 Giro winner Gianni Motta - the riders head across the flat terrain to Lake Iseo. They follow the southern shore before tackling the Passo dei Tre Termini, an 8.2-kilometre climb at 5.9%. After descending to the Mella Valley, they follow the river for a few kilometres upstream before facing the Cocca de Lodrino: 8.2 kilometres at 4.1%.
Upon reaching Nozza, the Giro heads roughly 35 kilometres upstream along the Chiese, which flows at a certain point through Lake Idro, before climbing for 4.8 kilometres at 5% to Roncone. By the time they pass through the village, around 60 kilometres remain.
The route continues with a descent to Preone, followed by a gently rising false-flat section that, after Stenico, leads onto a short 2-kilometre climb at 4.7%. A few kilometres of downhill follow before the road rises for 2.9 kilometres at 6.4% to San Lorenzo Dorsino. The route then undulates along Lake Molveno before turning steeper again.
First, the road climbs for 2.5 kilometres at 5.9% and then continues uphill on a false flat towards Andalo. But instead of heading straight to the finish, the riders take on a further 1.3-kilometre stretch at 4.5%. From the lakeside onwards, this entire section — known as the Andalo–Lever — adds up to 8.3 kilometres at an average gradient of 3.6%.
After cresting Andalo-Lever, there are still 10.7 kilometres to go. It begins with a descent towards Cavedago, and shortly afterwards the road rises again for 2 kilometres at 6.2% before the final 1.2 kilometres are flat.
The Giro last visited Andalo in 2016, with Alejandro Valverde outsprinting Steven Kruijswijk on the line. Back then, the riders approached the Andalo finish from the north, coming down from the mountains. This time the approach is from the south, but the final kilometres are exactly the same.
Time bonuses of 6, 4 and 2 seconds are up for grabs at the intermediate sprint at kilometre 186.6; at the finish line, 10, 6 and 4 await the first three riders.
