Critérium du Dauphiné 2023 Route stage 4: Cours - Belmont-de-la-Loire
The only ascent of the day appears early on. It's the Col de la Croix, a 2.2 kilometres climb with an average gradient of 4.7%. The riders reach the summit at kilometre 3.
A long and gradual descent takes the pilots to the foot of a short hill with the only time check at the top. The route climbs for 300 metres at 6.4% to the village of Mars. The first time check appears after 10.7 kilometres.
The following 9 kilometres are as good as flat and then the riders storm past the second time check. The last 10 kilometres climb at shallow gradients - mostly 2 or 3% - to the line in Belmont-de-la-Loire.
