World Cycling Championships 2016 Doha, Qatar: Favourites ITT – women
The individual time trial at the UCI World Cycling Championships is played out on a flat route. What kind of rider fancies this? Cyclingstage.com takes a look at the favourites to win the ITT in Doha. (Slideshow route/profile)
Linda Villumsen is title holder. Last year, in Richmond, she outperformed Anna van der Breggen – yet, it seems likely that another Dutch rider is likely to succeed the Danish born rider who races under the flag of New-Sealand. The route is as flat as can be and this suits Ellen van Dijk very well. Nicknamed the ‘Animal’, the Dutch powerhouse raced to the rainbow jersey on the ITT during the World Cycling Championships in Florence (2013). Just like in Qatar, that race was played out on a flat course.
Recently she won the European Championships individual time trial in Plumelec.
