The start town of Marín lies on the rugged Galician coast. The race begins along one of the fjords, known here as rías. The riders complete a southern loop and, along the way, encounter the Alto do Cruceiro, a 7.8-kilometre climb at 4.6%.

Shortly after passing back through the start town, the Alto da Portela follows – 3.6 kilometres at 5.8% – before the route continues south over rolling roads. The steepest section in this part of the course rises for 2.7 kilometres at 4.8%, with the riders cresting it 45 kilometres from the finish.

Over gently rolling roads, the red caravan continues further south, before an interesting obstacle comes almost immediately after the flamme rouge. The final kilometre opens with 400 metres at around 6%, before levelling out.

Stage 1 of the Vuelta Femenina starts at 11:35 and is expected to finish at 14:30 - both local times (CEST).
