Vuelta 2022 Favourites stage 1: TTT for first red jersey

fotobureau Cor VosLa Vuelta opens with a 23.3 kilometres TTT in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Which is good news for title defender Roglic. His Dutch based Jumbo-Visma squad is one of the best teams in the world.

The last team time trial in a Grand Tour happened three years ago. Also in La Vuelta. Astana turned out on top that day, while several riders of Jumbo-Visma skidded on surface water just after a tight bend. This was due to a bursted inflatable paddling pool half a kilometre up the hill.

The Dutch squad was more lucky in the Tour de France of that year when they powered to victory in the TTT in Brussels. INEOS Grenadiers and Deceuninck–Quick-Step finished in second and third.

The last TTT for WorldTour teams took place in last year's Tour of Britain. INEOS Grenadiers took the spoils ahead of Deceuninck-Quick-Step and Jumbo-Visma.

With powerhouses Roglic, Dennis and Affini in their ranks, Jumbo-Visma is the most likley candidate to win the TTT in Utrecht.
