Vuelta 2021 Favourites stage 16: Sprint in Cantabria

fotobureau Cor VosStage 16 at La Vuelta is not entirely flat, still, the most likely scenario is a bunch sprint in the streets of Santa Cruz de Bezana, a stone's throw from the Cantabrian Sea.

The route is going either up or down for most of the day, but the slopes are not steep at all. Two climbs stand out. The Alto de Hijas - 4.2 kilometres at 6.5% - and the Alto de San Cipriano – 5.5 kilometres at 4,4% – are crested within 20 kilometres and after the latter there are 50 kilometres remaining.

Since the finale is pan flat a bunch sprint is the most likely outcome in Santa Cruz de Bezana.
