Race report
Richard Carapaz is the stellar name in the breakaway. The Olympic Champion ia accompanied by Guillaume Martin, Simone Petilli, Filippo Zana, Jefferson Cepeda, Maxim Van Gils and Niklas Eg. The seven open up a lead of more than 5 minutes.
Carapaz, Martin and Van Gils are the remaining leaders on the Coll de la Creueta. The trio reaches the summit 1.30 minutes ahead of the peloton.
The gap is down to 30 seconds when they hit the finish climb. Carapaz heads out alone, while Van Gils rejoins him. The Flemish rider is the last attacker to be caught with 8 kilometres to go.
Evenepoel strikes inside the last 5 kilometres and Roglic goes with him. The World Champion keeps on pushing, while the race leader sits in his wheels.
Evenepoel distances his rivals in the last corner and powers to a commanding victory. The two are on the same time, although Roglic remains in the GC lead.
