UAE Tour 2023 Route stage 5: Al Marjan Island – Umm Al Quwain

Friday 24 February - The UAE Tour travels in 182 kilometres from Al Marjan Island in the emirate Ras Al Khaimah to Umm Al Quwain. It will be a first for the finishing venue, although the outcome will be far from a first. The 5th stage has gotten bunch sprint written all over it.

Umm Al Quwain is located approximately 50 kilometres north of Dubai and Sharjah. It is the capital of the least populous emirate in the UAE, Umm Al Quwain. It was neither a starting neither a finishing venue in the UAE Tour, although there was an intermediate sprint on several occassions.

Again, a sprint is likely to happen in Umm Al Quwain, but this time with a complete bunch. The route from Al Marjan Island, a man-made archipelago in the Arabian Gulf, to the coastal city some 35 kilometres to the south is as flat as a curling rink.

The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprints come with 3, 2 and 1 seconds.
