Race report
Four men escape early on. Dimitriy Strakhov, Alessandro Tonelli, Pavel Kochetkov and Michael Kukrle quickly open up a gap of 4 minutes before the peloton takes the reins.
The four are reeled in when echelons are created 140 kilometres before the finish. Moments later Pogacar gains a time bonus of 2 seconds in the intermediate sprint, while Vlasov takes 1.
Strakhov, Tonelli and Kochetkov are also on board in the day’s second breakaway. Johnatan Cañaveral rounds out the quartet. Their lead bounces back to 4 minutes.
The peloton is bunched again with 50 kilometres remaining before Kukrle goes solo in the last 30 kilometres. The Czech opens a 2.30 minutes gap before he is caught inside the last 3 kilometres.
Jasper Philipsen sprints to another commanding victory, besting young Olav Kooij and Sam Bennet on the line.
Tadej Pogacar stays in the overall race lead, despite a puncture with 6 kilometres to go.
