Bétera is located at the foot of the Sierra Calderona. When the Tour of Valencia visited the town in 2018 the riders entered the Natural Park right after the start, this time they brush past it. The route takes in five modest climbs, four of which are located between kilometre 52 and kilometre 121.
The route then descends towards the flat before the last climb is tackled with almost 20 kilometres to go. It’s 2.1 kilometres long and averages 5.2%. The summit lies in the village Calicanto and after the descent the finale finale is as fat as can be.
The finish location of this year’s 2nd stage is Torrent. The town in the the metropolitan area of the city of Valencia hosted start starts in the last two editions. In 2020 the stage went to a punchy finish climb above Cullera, where Tadej Pogacar took the win. Last year saw also a race for climbers leave from Torrent. Enric Mas took the spolis on the Alto de la Reina. In Torrent itself a bunch sprint seems to be the most likely outcome.
