Tour of Valencia 2022 Route stage 4: Orihuela - Torrevieja

Saturday 5 February - Stage 4 at the Tour of Valencia looks promising for the fast men. Although the distance between Orihuela and Torrevieja is merely 33 kilometres, the race adds up to 193 kilometres.

The riders clip into their pedals in Orihuela and in the course of the day they move through places such as Bigastro, Hondón de los Frailes, Hondón de las Nieves, Crevillent, Guardamar del Segura and Los Montesinos before a likely sprint finish in Torrevieja. The only climb of the day - 8 kilometres at 2.9% - appears in the first half of the race.

Two years ago the Tour of Valencia also saw a race from Orihuela to Torrevieja. Back then, Dylan Groenewegen outsprinted Fabio Jakobsen on the line.

Torrevieja is famous for the Salinas de Torrevieja, a Natural Park with pink-hued water lagoons next to the town. The bubblegum color is due to a microscopic algae rich in carotenes.
