Tour of Valencia 2021 Route stage 5: Paterna - Valencia

Sunday 7 February - The final stage of the Tour of Valencia is familiar. The race starts in Paterna to finish 95 kilometres later in de streets of Valencia.

The route of the last stage is virtually flat, which was also the case in recent editions. Fabio Jakobsen won last year’s Paterna-Valencia stage to succeed Dylan Groenewegen (2019), Jürgen Roelandts (2018) and Bryan Coquard (2017).

Since the race returned to the UCI calendar in 2016, the Tour of Valencia always finished in the provincial capital. The 2016 edition did not start in Paterna, but the finale was similar. Stijn Vandenbergh pulled it off and he stayed ahead of the chasing pack.

Given the flat characteristics of the route it would be a stunt if someone would repeat Vandenbergh’s victory, especially since the field in the Tour of Valencia has been growing much stronger in recent years.
