Tour of the Basque Country 2025 Route stage 1: Vitoria-Gasteiz - Vitoria-Gasteiz

Monday, 7 April - The Itzulia Basue Country kicks off with an ITT. The route is set to the northeast of cycling hotbed Vitoria-Gasteiz.

While the course is mostly flat, the organisers have still managed to squeeze in a little climb. Probably just to have a KOM jersey to hand out, because it’s barely more than a false flat. The Arzubiaga a 1-kilometre stretch at 2.8%, with the ‘summit’ after 4.3 kilometres.

The rest of the route is ever so slightly undulating, before the final 6.5 kilometres are as flat as a pancake.

Last year’s Tour of the Basque Country also kicked off with an individual time trial, but that route was much more testing. Primoz Roglic took the win ahead of Jay Vine and Mattias Skjelmose.

There are two intermediate time checks—one on the Arzubiaga and the second after 9.1 kilometres.
