Tour of Qatar 2016 Route stage 4: Al Zubara Fort – Madinat Al Shamal
Departure place and arrival place of the penultimate stage in the 2016 Tour of Qatar are the same as last year’s. As always in Qatar, the race is on flat roads through the desert.
2014 saw André Greipel take the flowers in Madinat Al Shamal and last year it was Alexander Kristoff snatching the win.
Stage 4 in the 2016 Tour of Qatar leaves from the fortress that was built by Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani in 1938. After heading in southeasterly direction and a spin through the desert the riders race the same route back. Following the first intermediate sprint the route continues up north. Once in Madinat Al Shamal a second intermediate sprint offers the chances to win time bonuses of 3, 2 and 1 seconds.
After four local rounds in Madinat Al Shamal another run at bonus seconds ushers in the stage winner. As always in the Tour of Qatar time bonuses at the finiss line are 10 seconds, 6 seconds and 4 seconds.
