Race report
When a huge breakaway – with Rohan Dennis a threat on GC – has been brought back in the early stages of the race Rémi Cavagna and Alex Hoehn give it a go. The French rider heads out alone on Mount Hamilton and solos to victory in the last 70 kilometres.
Ben King and Simon Geschke track down Hoehn inside the last 4 kilometres before sprinting to second and third place.
Hoehn’s souvenir for the day is the KOM-jersey, while Van Garderen stays in the overall lead.
